"All my past visits to any dentist have been filled with anxiety, dread, and overall fear. First off, the entire staff at The Dentistry was confident, pleasant, and gave me a most comfortable feeling. The doctors were truly professional and compassionate. Their procedures were perfectly orchestrated and the most relaxing and totally pain free process I had ever experienced. I don't know why I didn't call sooner. They can expect a life-time (coward) patient. Thank you all." - Steve K.

IN OFFICE - IV SEDATION

BY BOARD CERTIFIED ANESTHESIOLOGISTS

NO SIGHTS, NO SOUNDS, NO FEARS

Who is a candidate for sedation dentistry?

People who have:

  • High fear
  • Traumatic dental experiences
  • Difficulty getting numb
  • Bad gag reflex
  • Very sensitive teeth
  • Complex dental problems
  • Disabilities and other conditions that make it difficult to get dental treatment
  • Limited time to complete dental care

People who...

  • Hate needles and shots!
  • Hate the noises, smells, and tastes associated with dental care
  • Are afraid or embarrassed about their teeth

Relaxation or anesthesia services offer a progressive level of sedation from very mild to fully asleep. Your doctor will help you decide which option is best for you and your treatment.

NITROUS OXIDE FOR THE SLIGHTLY APPREHENSIVE.

"Laughing gas" is a mild sedative, by inhaling a combination of nitrous oxide and oxygen you can achieve a pleasant, "tingling" sensation. Patients often listen to relaxing music with this method. You will remain aware of your surroundings at all times. No escort is required.

ORAL SEDATION FOR THE MILDLY APPREHENSIVE.

Your doctor will prescribe a sedative pill to take before the appointment. Oral sedation will make you drowsy, and slightly less focused on your surroundings, but will not put you to sleep. An escort is required.

NITROUS OXIDE AND ORAL SEDATION FOR THE MODERATELY APPREHENSIVE.

Combining laughing gas and an oral sedative will achieve a more-drowsy, less conscious state, and decreased awareness of your surroundings. This technique will not put you to sleep. An escort is required.

ANESTHESIA / INTRAVENOUS SEDATION FOR THE VERY APPREHENSIVE.

A board certified anesthesiologist will administer I.V. sedation. Unlike the other options, I.V. sedation will put you to sleep. You will have little or no memory of the appointment, and not be aware of your surroundings. Recovery is rapid and most patients are sent home quickly after the appointment. An escort is required.
